FAQS
WHERE IS ACTON MOBILE LOCATED?
Acton Academy Mobile is located in Highland Park, 2344 Schillinger Rd S in West Mobile.
WHAT GRADES DO YOU OFFER?
We do not sort our students by grade. We act as a modern day one-room school house, broken into studios (Spark Studio ages 5-6 and Discovery Studio ages 7-11).
HOW LONG IS ACTON MOBILE IN SESSION EACH YEAR AND WHAT IS THE SCHOOL CALENDAR?
We operate on an 11-month trimester calendar (See Calendar Tab on Menu for dates) that allows for our students to have extended breaks throughout the year and maintains their interests and retention by shortening the summer break. Our flexible program allows families to travel together throughout the year, without sacrificing any learning.

We believe that children learn best when working with those younger & older than themselves, rather than split up into groups based solely on age.
HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM WITHOUT STUDENTS HAVING TOO MUCH SCREEN TIME?
At Acton Mobile, we believe in the power of balance. We will use the incredible, self-paced eLearning tools now available, combined with hands-on and project-based learning.
IS ACTON MOBILE A MONTESSORI SCHOOL?
We respect and incorporate Maria Montessori’s philosophy, but we are not a Montessori school. In addition to Montessori-inspired methods, we use the latest interactive technologies, hands on projects and the Socratic Method for discussions.
IF THERE ARE NO GRADES, HOW DO YOU TRACK STUDENT SUCCESS?
Our young heroes celebrate the mastery of tools, skills and character by earning badges, assembling portfolios & taking part in public exhibitions. We use Badges to track progress. Portfolios capture rough drafts, photos, video & other creative work. Public exhibitions allow heroes to present work to experts, customers, or the public for a real world test.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "A HERO'S JOURNEY"?
We believe that each of us has a special calling in life, and a series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose in order to live a satisfying and fulfilled life. Our mission is to prepare your child for their Christ-centered journey!
WHAT IS AN INDEPENDENT LEARNER?
Someone who can research questions, follow instructions, solve problems—admit that they don’t know something and figure out a solution when they hit a roadblock without asking an adult for help — participate in discussions, and strive for mastery!
WHY A "LEARNER-DRIVEN STUDIO"?
At Acton Mobile we believe in learning to be and learning to do. An important part of this is encouraging kids to take responsibility for their own behavior & hold those around them to a high standard. When something isn’t working, we want our students to work together to solve the problem, not look for an adult to solve it for them. This creates a sense of independence and confidence that will serve them well in all areas of life!
